Future Plans
Dear
Friends and Colleagues
ANDHOW!, like the rest of the theater
community, New York City and all of America, grieves for the September
11 tragedies and the changes in our world that have followed. We have grappled
with how to combat sadness and maintain our voice in the artistic community
and the world at large. We must, now more than ever, remember and participate
in what is beautiful about humanity. The arts can be an important source
of solace and renewal.
Our plan for the next few months
is as follows:
T e n n e s s e e T i m e s T w o
Later this month you will receive
an invitation to an evening of Tennessee Williams one-act plays to be followed
by hors d' ourves, cocktails and live music at the Blue Heron Arts Center
in New York City. We are delighted to celebrate at least two of this great
American playwright's lesser-known works.
B e g i n n i n g t h e A m e r i
c a n S p i r i t
Slated for early winter, is our
Beginning the American Spirit celebration. The celebration will consist
of readings of the first part (a beginning scene, act, or any other part
an individual playwright chooses to write) of five new plays discussing
the American Spirit. A question and answer session will follow the readings,
and the audience will have the opportunity to give feed back to the playwrights
and voice opinions about where the plays can go in the following scenes,
acts, etc.

The last part of our plan is this
letter: Our $5 donation campaign. We understand that right now the majority
of non-profit gifts should go to the World Trade Center relief, which is
why we are requesting only $5.00 donations.
As our nation and world shifts, please
help us to provide one of the havens of beauty: the theater. It is alive
within us all still.
Sincerely,
Jessica Davis-Irons
